Tips for talking to a friend/family member who has Aphasia
1. Use pen and paper

2. Say one thing at a time

3. Do not pretend you understand

4. Do not rush-slow down, be patient, give the person plenty of time to gather their thoughts. Do not finish their sentences

5. Draw diagrams/pictures

6. Write down key words

7. Relax-be natural

8. Recap-check you both understand

9. Ask what helps?

10. Reduce background noise
